The theory of Voyeurism has been much used in Media Studies, particularly in explaining the gendered pleasures of cinema.
Broadly it refers to the idea of looking in order to gain sexual pleasure. It has been argued that the male viewer’s gaze at the screen is geared to notions of voyeurism in that it is a powerful controlling gaze at the objectified female on display. In music promos the female on display has been a staple element.
Goodwin argues that the female performer will frequently be objectified in this fashion, often through a combination of camerawork and editing with fragmented body shots emphasising a sexualised treatment of the star.

Voyeurism is a theory by Sigmund Freud that explores how the use of appealing females and males in music videos attract a specific audience. The theory looks into how the audience can gain pleasure from looking and links with Laura Mulvey's Male Gaze. Most of the time it is a male gaining pleasure from objectified females in music videos. This is done through a wide variety of cinematography and camera cuts.
For example, in Krept and Konan's Last night music video there is prime example of voyeurism where women are dressed with tight revealing clothing using various shots such as close up and low angled shots.
